The MSSM prediction for W+/- H-/+ production by gluon fusion

We discuss the associated W+/- H-/+ production in p p collision for the Large Hadron Collider. A complete one-loop calculation of the loop-induced subprocess g g -> W+/- H-/+ is presented in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), and the possible enhancement of the hadronic cross section is investigated under the constraint from the squark direct-search results and the low-energy precision data. Because of the large destructive interplay in the quark-loop contributions between triangle-type and box-type diagrams, the squark-loop contributions turn out to be comparable with the quark-loop ones. In particular, the hadronic cross section via gluon fusion can be extensively enhanced by squark-pair threshold effects in the box-type diagrams, so that it can be as large as the hadronic cross section via the b b-bar -> W+/- H-/+ subprocess which appears at tree level.Comment: 35 pages, 7 figures, version to appear in Physical Review

New records of the type-species of the genus Peucetia from the south of the Iberian Peninsula, near the Mediterranean Sea, confirm its presence in Europe. P. viridis has been recently the subject of taxonomical confussion. Investigadors del Grup de Recerca sobre Biodiversitat Animal de la UAB han descobert una nova espècie d'aranya, Malthonica oceanica Barrientos y Cardoso, 2007, localitzada a la part més occidental de la Península Ibèrica, a territori portuguès. En el seu treball han caracteritzat aquesta nova espècie, la seva distribució, el possible parentesc i la seva ubicació en l'esquema sistemàtic de les aranyes.Investigadores del Grupo de Investigación sobre Biodiversidad Animal de la UAB han descubierto una nueva especie de araña, Malthonica oceanica Barrientos y Cardoso, 2007, localizada en la parte más occidental de la Península Ibérica, en territorio portugués. Generic Drone Control Platform for Autonomous Capture of Cinema Scenes

The movie industry has been using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles as a new tool to produce more and more complex and aesthetic camera shots. However, the shooting process currently rely on manual control of the drones which makes it difficult and sometimes inconvenient to work with. In this paper we address the lack of autonomous system to operate generic rotary-wing drones for shooting purposes. We propose a global control architecture based on a high-level generic API used by many UAV. Our solution integrates a compound and coupled model of a generic rotary-wing drone and a Full State Feedback strategy. To address the specific task of capturing cinema scenes, we combine the control architecture with an automatic camera path planning approach that encompasses cinematographic techniques. Squark Loop Correction to W^{+-} H^{-+} Associated Hadroproduction

We study the squark loop correction to W^{+-} H^{-+} associated hadroproduction via gluon-gluon fusion within the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model. The Architecture of Musical Expression

This project aims to explore the inherent relationship that exists between music and architecture. From the design of concert halls to how architecture can shape itself to sound as a means of reflecting space, this cross-disciplinary approach aims to investigate beyond the interweaving similarities between the two in terms of proportion and underlying rhythms. Apart from the circumscribed aesthetics and acoustics, this project will delve into music and architecture as an immersive experience by interconnecting directly the design of a space with a composition of music and research the experiential quality of inhabiting a space.
